As fans of the show anxiously anticipating Friday’s House of Cards Season 4 premiere, we’ve looked back at some of Frank Underwood’s best words of wisdom and applied them to our world of voter contact mail and targeted mobile advertising.

1. “I won’t shackle myself to people I don’t know.”

Majority Strategies has two decades of experience. Over those years, we’ve worked with clients from the courthouse to the White House, including three Republican presidential nominees. We have proudly worked with over 2,500 campaigns and clients in all 50 states, creating over 2 billion pieces of mail and countless mobile ads.

We’re the most experienced – and the most trusted.

You know us.

2. “I have no patience for useless things.”

Voter contact mail and mobile advertising are two of the most effective means of targeting voters.

Voter contact mail is more cost effective than TV and provides the physical touch that people respond to. Mail is personal, trusted and evokes an emotional response. Simpy put, mail is remembered.

Today’s voters are also heavily engaged on their mobile devices, with people adding 58 more mobile minutes per day since 2014. There will be an estimated 196.7 million smartphone users in the U.S. by 2016 – an increase of 161% since 2012 and 482% since 2008.

Mobile is where to find voters today – it’s the first screen.

3. “If you don’t like how the table is set, turn over the table.”

Our company was founded on the premise that political advertising could – and should – be done better. Two decades ago, we turned voter contact mail into an art, challenging the idea that we could only print red, white and blue and moving toward humor and wit to deliver a message that resonated with voters. It worked.

Today we are doing the same thing with targeted mobile advertising. We’re pushing the envelope, creating new products and delivering ads that are seen by humans the way they are meant to be seen with the world’s first vertically integrated platform.

4. “Power is a lot like real estate. It’s all about location, location, location. The closer you are to the source, the higher your property value.”

Targeting is one of the key elements of a well-crafted voter contact mail or mobile advertising plan. You have to reach the right voters to persuade and turn out.

All voter contact mail should be targeted – that’s the biggest advantage of mail over all other mediums for delivering the message. Its targetability makes mail one of the most efficient ways to make an impact, especially in local and state legislative races, primaries, and congressional races.

Mobile advertising needs to be targeted as well. Our proprietary data analyzes trillions of 1st-party data points every day and has matched over 162 million registered voters to over 300 million unique devices. No other vendor has this data, which provides us with much larger reach, scale and frequency.

5. “Treading water is the same as drowning for people like you and me.”

Campaigns need to evolve. Randy talked about that here.

Mobile is here and here to stay. It’s the first screen, with an estimated 196.7 million smartphone users in the U.S. by 2016.

Mail needs to evolve, too. We’ve already set that standard through our two decades of creating voter contact mail that moved beyond the red, white and blue of “traditional” political advertising and used wit and humor to deliver a lasting message. Today, campaigns can bring mail to life through QR codes, giving voters and volunteers a direct link to their website, sign up forms and more.

6. “There’s no better way to overpower a trickle of doubt than with a flood of naked truth.”

Majority Strategies has been proven to generate more click-throughs than anyone else on mobile and successfully deliver 2.5 times as many ads for the same dollar spend.

A recent case study looking at Iowa caucus locations showed we were able to geofarm 6.4 times as many device IDs as another firm – 102,476 vs. 16,000.

7. “I’ve worked too hard to come within arm’s reach of the prize only to have my hand cut off just before I seize it.”

Online ad fraud, including bots and ads that don’t show the way they are meant to or are stacked one on top of one another, costs advertisers over $8 billion each year.

Majority Strategies is a mobile-first tech company with the world’s first vertically integrated mobile ad platform that allows us to tackle the viewability problem head on. We buy better and control the process from start to finish to ensure an impression is seen by a human, not a bot.

We look at things no one else is, including fraud, delivery, safety, historical data and whether we can track the request back to a unique device ID. Then we use our universal ad delivery system to ensure our creative is seen the way it is intended to be seen across all devices.

8. “After all, we are nothing more or less than what we choose to reveal.”

There is no Nielson-like entity overseeing mobile advertising. That’s why it’s so important to work with a vendor you can trust, who is transparent and who is holding themselves to a higher standard.

We are members of the Alliance for Audited Media and adhere to industry best practices on privacy, ad delivery and a host of other technical requirements. That includes adhering to the viewability standards set forth by the Interactive Advertising Bureau.

Why do we do this voluntarily when our competitors aren’t? We are committed to doing what’s right and helping to set the standard for responsible mobile advertising. That’s one of the reasons why we price by message and not impressions.

The industry calls them impressions for a reason – these ads leave an impression on the viewer. We felt strongly that the impression a single banner ad makes is not the same value as the impression a :15 video makes.

One message equals one video or rich media ad or two full screen ads or three half screen ads or seven banner ads.

On a sample $100,000 budget, when comparing impressions to impressions, our pricing would result in over one million more impressions.

“I have no patience for useless things,” Frank Underwood said.

Neither do we.

That’s why we’re focused on two of the most effective and targetable mediums in political advertising and influence marketing today, and we’re committed to producing voter contact mail and mobile advertising with the speed, trust and experience we’re known for.
