Morgan Olds is a native of Florida with a passion for animals, the desire to learn new design mediums, and a love for the ‘70s.
Morgan took her graphic design talent and turned it into a career after graduating from the University of North Florida with a Bachelors of Fine Arts.
We’re getting to know Morgan a little better in today’s #MeetMajority.
Favorite homemade meal?
I would highly recommend mashed potato casserole. You start with a mashed potato base, cover it with oven baked mac and cheese and corn before covering it in turkey gravy. It’s delicious!
Last book you read?
I recently re-read The Proud Highway: Saga of a Desperate Southern Gentleman, a collection of letters from Hunter S Thompson.
Name one of your “weird” hobbies or habits.
I like to do leatherwork. It’s great to make something physical, durable, useful and beautiful. Not to mention it’s a great stress reliever!
When are you happiest?
Whenever I have a great horseshow with my Appaloosa horses, regardless of if we win or lose!
Favorite song? And what do you do when it comes on in the car?
Narrowing down just one favorite song is tough. Right now, I really like “The Weight” by The Band. I can’t help but listen to it over and over again.
What is a new skill you would like to learn?
I’d like to improve my lettering skills and one day be able to more skillfully create new typefaces. I’d also like to learn to play the Theremin which is the instrument that sounds like an exaggerated violin in scary movie soundtracks.
If you could travel back to any time period, which would you choose?
I’m all about 1972 – the music, the muscle cars, the movies, everything! I’m even the proud owner of a 1972 Charger.
What motivates you to tackle the day?
I really believe in the power of design and how it provides me with the chance to positively impact others through my work.
Thanks, Morgan.
