Majority Strategies

Hailing from Miami, Florida, Sebastian Lazcano recently joined the Majority Strategies team as a creative copywriter.

In this edition of #MeetMajority, we’ll learn more about Sebastian, including his appreciation for a good Cuban sandwich, his daydreams about Colorado ski slopes and the consequences of checking your email during a mullet toss.

What has been your best day on the campaign trail?
Commercial shoot day! Seeing the film crew work through all the various takes and having the chance to involve all our volunteers in something they’ve never experienced before was very gratifying.

What has been the toughest lesson you’ve learned?
Don’t check your email during a mullet toss because you just might get hit in the face by a dead fish. Yes, I am speaking from experience.

What is your favorite campaign tactic?
There’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Listen to people. Every city, county, congressional district, and state is different. Go out into the rural areas, the cities, the churches and talk to people about what you can do to make their lives just a little bit easier. In all your messaging from then on, address the most common concerns. That’s something I work hard to do as a creative copywriter.

You’re from Miami. What are your favorite eats from your home city?
Nothing beats a good Cubano from a downtown Miami food truck!

Describe your greatest accomplishment.
Working as the Deputy Campaign Manager for a candidate who was running in a district where so many people had given up on their elected representatives. It was a great accomplishment helping my candidate spark a new hope for our country and its politics.

Why Majority Strategies?
Why waste time playing if you’re not playing to win?

What’s on your bucket list?
I hope to go skiing on double black diamonds in Colorado…but I should probably learn how to ski first.

If you could travel back to any time period, which would you choose? Why?
Probably the 1500’s, just to be able to experience all the intrigue in Europe.

Thanks, Sebastian!
