A lifelong Minnesotan, Kelli Commers joins our team as the State Director of her home state. Kelli has spent years on the trail, working on campaigns from the local to national level. She’s new to our team but she’s certainly no stranger to politics.

What’re your favorite things about living in Minnesota?
First of all, “Minnesota nice” is a real thing. People are genuinely nice and will go out of their way to be helpful. And while everyone thinks we talk like the characters from Fargo and live in a frozen tundra, the reality is, it’s cold for 3 or 4 months but the rest of the year is beautiful. We don’t have the humid weather all summer like most places.
Tell us about your best day on the campaign trail.
I loved the last-minute bus tours, especially barnstorming the state during the last two weeks of the campaign. Those weeks were always exhausting, but a lot of fun, too.
Describe your greatest accomplishment.
Definitely my kids, Patrick and Anna. Although I’m not sure I can take credit for how great they are…My son loves politics and my daughter hates it, so she’s not a big fan of most of our dinner conversations.
When and where are you happiest?
Our family has two favorite vacation spots: somewhere warm, usually Naples, FL in the winter and New York City in the spring. Sitting on the beach with my Kindle or exploring the city with my husband and kids spells perfection in my book. As an avid baseball fan, I also love Target Field, home of the Twins.
Name one your “weird” habits.
I’m a night owl. I love to stay up late and I’m convinced I can’t go to sleep before 1:00am.
