Key Hispanic Voters

As Hispanic voters continue to be a growing share of the electorate, 2020 showed that many of these voters are persuadable to Republican messaging.

As Hispanic voters continue to be a growing share of the electorate, 2020 showed that many of these voters are persuadable to Republican messaging.

In the 2020 election, President Trump saw improved performance in 78 of the 100 majority-Hispanic counties, including counties like Starr County, TX, (95% Hispanic) where Trump improved by 55.2% and Miami-Dade County, FL, (68.7% Hispanic) where he improved by 22.3% since 2016.

Developing custom strategies for Hispanic audiences will be crucial for winning elections in the 2022 midterms. Democrats and liberal outside groups know this and have publicly stated in the wake of the 2020 election that one of their key priorities is regaining lost ground amongst Hispanic voters.

What are you doing today to prepare your campaign to deliver your message to these critical early engagement audiences?

The Majority Strategies data team breaks down the audiences of persuadable Hispanic voters and conservative Hispanic voters.

Persuadable Hispanic Voters
This audience of registered or modeled Independent and lean Democrat Hispanic voters who are likely to turnout in the 2022 November election makes up approximately 4.5 million households in the U.S.

Among these voters, just over 12% are 65 years of age or older and just shy of 38% are under the age of 35.

20% live in Texas. Nearly 18% live in California, and just over 12.5% live in Florida.

14% of these voters are modeled or observed as social conservatives.

Persuasion is the main goal with this audience, but turnout is also important as just over 51% of these voters have not voted in a midterm.

Conservative Hispanic Voters
Turnout is the focus for this audience of registered or modeled Republican Hispanic voters comprising over 3 million U.S. households. Over a quarter of these voters voted in the 2020 general election but not the 2018 midterm election.

Texas is the top state here with over 21% of Republican Hispanic voters, followed by Texas and Florida.

Over 39% of this audience supports strong immigration policies and over 60% are modeled as strong Trump supporters.
