It's Not Too Early ...
Campaigns need to start earlier then ever. Why?
Early voting, absentee voting, and voting by mail.
A new report by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission found that more than two out of every five ballots cast were done so using a method other than a voting machine on Election Day 2016.
The report found that 57.2 million Americans cast their ballot early, by mail or by absentee in 2016. Early votes accounted for 24.1 million of those votes.
That 57.2 million in 2016 is more than double the 24.9 million voters who used a method to vote other than voting in person on Election Day in 2004.
In sixteen states, at least half of the ballots submitted were done so through early, mail, or absentee voting. That includes Arizona, Colorado, Florida, and Nevada.
- 17.7% voted absentee
- 17.2% voted early
- 5.9% voted by mail
What does that mean for your voter contact plans … and your budget?
There are only 383 days until Election Day 2018.
It’s not too early to start.
