How did you get your start in politics?

One of my favorite things is to hear the stories of fellow consultants and operatives of how they got their start in politics.

For me, I started my career as an intern for Sam Van Voorhis back in 1993 when he was hired by Speaker Jo Ann Davidson to run races for the Ohio House Republican caucus. I was Sam’s first intern.

Sam went on to found Majority Strategies in 1996, bringing to life what would grow to become America’s premier Republican voter contact mail firm.

Years later, I joined Sam at Majority Strategies and have proudly led its growth and introduction into the world of mobile advertising.

For other consultants and operatives, their start is a state representative race. It’s joining College Republicans and volunteering for the presidential. It’s landing an internship in a caucus or a governor’s office or serving as a page in the state legislature.

We all started somewhere.

The common thread on all our paths? Connections.

None of us have done this alone; we get by with a little help from our friends and fellow operatives who open doors for us, give us recommendations and make sure we know about the latest opportunities.

Now 20 years after I first met and interned for Sam, Majority Strategies is embarking on its 3rd generation with today’s launch of Campaign Hunter.

This is a first-of-its-kind company for GOP operatives, campaigns and organizations, making it free and easy for everyone to hire the best of the best and brightest from the GOP field, match the right opportunities with the right talent and staff winning campaigns in 2016 and well beyond.

It’s making connections like LinkedIn, friends like Facebook and job openings like Monster all in one convenient place.

Campaign Hunter is where the 2016 GOP field will find campaign managers, digital and social media managers and communications staff.

This is where every organization and elected official can come to find legislative aides, fundraisers and policy directors. Up-and-comers. Experienced operatives. Jobs across the nation.

Campaign Hunter is the GOP’s one-stop-shop for jobs and opportunities – free for everyone.
